Synopsis

Hi! It's me again. Now, I'm sure at least one person who has stumbled across my blog has no idea what the Vampire Diaries are. So I'll give you quick synopsis of the book so you'll know what I'm talking about later on.

The first thing the book does is introduce us to Elena. Elena is the queen of Robert E. Lee High. Every boy wants to date her, and every girl wants to be her. When the new school year starts, several surprises are in store for her. First, she has a showdown with her former friend Caroline, who vows to throw Elena off her throne, and second, there is a hot new boy at the school.

The new boy is handsome and mysterious. Elena must have him. Yet he won't give her the time of day, which mortally embarrasses Elena. After he ignores her, Elena does vows to make him hers.

While Elena is scheming, Stefan is worrying. You see, Stefan is a vampire. And he may be in love with Elena. She looks almost exactly like Katherine, the vampire who turned him and his brother. They were both in love with her, and unwilling to share. In a fit if grief, Katherine killed herself by going into the sun without her ring that prevented the sun from harming her. Stefan might love her, so he wants to stay away from her for her own good.

A series of events lead to the school dance, where several key events happen. The starting point would Stefan showing up to the dance with Caroline. This horrified Elena. She tired to hind her grief by hanging out with a couple of rowdy boys and their dates. The teens eventually go to the town's cemetery after the dance, and trouble begins.

When the group arrives at the cemetery, many events happen. Vickie Bennett is attacked by a yet to be named source, and Stefan is made to believe he may have done it. Another horrible event was when Tyler tried to attack Elena. Stefan, who was there at the time, managed to save her.

After the attack, Elena and Stefan kiss. The next day, Stefan tries to break up with her. She refuses. She is convinced she is in love with her, and that he is too. She also notes in her diary that Stefan appears to be hiding something from her.

Meanwhile, Elena, Bonnie, and Meredith start to plan the school's haunted house for Halloween. One night while working on it, a college-aged boy appears, and tries to make Elena kiss him. She nearly does so, but stops herself at the last minute. Her refusal seems to interest him.

A little while later, Elena goes to a slumber party at Bonnie's house. She brings her diary, which will be stolen later that night. While at the slumber party, the girl's conduct a dumb supper to find out who Elena's future husband will be, Stefan doesn't appear, but the college-age boy appears. This time the boy reacts in anger when she refuses to kiss him.

Elena begins to notice how sad and haunted Stefan is. She is also concerned because he seems to be drawing away from her.

Time has passed and it is time for the haunted house. During the event, a tragedy happens. A teacher is murder. Tyler, bitter that Stefan stopped him, convinces everyone that Stefan is the killer. Stefan tries to flee, and Elena follows. She finds him with blood on his lips and dead birds on the floor. She then finds out about Stefan's vampirism. She allows him to feed off of her.

During Stefan's confessions, she finds out about Stefan's evil brother Damon. She believes he is responsible for the violence the town has been experiencing. She also identify him as the mysterious college-age boy she keeps meeting.

After Elena leaves Stefan goes into the woods and uses his Power to call Damon. Damon arrives and the brother's fight. Damon admits to the killings and attacks Stefan.

After Stefan goes missing Elena starts to worry. She goes to the cemetery and summons Damon.

This is where the first book ends. I'll have the second book up tomorrow (It was two books in one.) Like I said before, this was just a quick synopsis. It may be a little long to be considered quick, but it is only the bare minimum of the first part of the book.
